The desire to offer a true, quality coffee, controlled in every phase of production, naturally led the Barbera company to join one of the principal coffee control associations: CSC “ Caffè Speciali Certificati ” (Certified Special Coffees).
Certified Barbera coffee blends have achieved their level of excellence due to their exclusive characteristics, quality of flavour, smoothness and taste.
Certification of coffee quality takes place after several stages:
- Direct checks and controls on the producer, and inspection of coffee plantations: every year Barbera inspect the harvest and the plantations, in person.
- Verification of samples by qualified tasters.
- Quality controls of raw material on arrival, and consequent certification by CSC .
- Roasted coffee blends are certified with a CSC holographic numbered counterfeit-proof sticker .
- Certified blends contain a minimum 75% of Arabica coffee.
- CSC checks also take place during coffee roasting, to verify that blends distributed with the special sticker are produced exclusively with certified green coffee, and that the correct roasting, blending and packaging procedures are observed.
CSC brand guarantees a special product
“CSC is a consortium which guarantees, with a numbered, counterfeit-proof label, the quality level of blends making up the coffee which have undergone a series of checks and controls, starting from the producer, and up to the final product. This is carried out by intervening at all phases of the coffee production cycle, from the identification of plantations with the best requisites, to the selection of a particularly qualified product, by evaluating the quality of annual raw coffee of the plantation itself, quality control of single lots bought by the consortium members, and the requirements and verification of the characteristics of the certified products.”
“ All coffees used, in the certified blends, come from plantations which must respect certain quality requisites . The producers must be: plantation owners, owners of companies that work green coffee, and exporters of this coffee. Plantations are subject to inspection on the part of the CSC technical committee. Inspections mean controls of the certified plantations directly in the countries of origin, with verification of processing (from the plant itself, to harvesting, to cleaning and selection) and documentation of salient data”.
